Honoring Those Who Served — While We Still Can
The United States’ involvement in the Vietnam War marked one of the most complex and challenging chapters in our nation’s history. More than 2.7 million Americans served in the Vietnam era, answering the call to duty during a time of deep division at home and danger abroad.
For too long, many Vietnam veterans returned home to silence—without the parades, recognition, or gratitude they deserved. Yet they went on to build families, careers, and communities, quietly carrying the weight of their service. Their courage, sacrifice, and resilience helped shape the nation we live in today.
North Country Honor Flight exists to recognize and honor America’s veterans by flying them to Washington, D.C., to visit the memorials built in their honor—at no cost to them. These trips are more than a flight; they are a chance for healing, reflection, and the long-overdue thanks of a grateful nation.
As our Vietnam War veterans age, time is no longer on our side. Many are now in their late 70s and 80s, and each year we lose thousands who may never have the opportunity to be honored for their service. The window to say “thank you” is closing.
That is why North Country Honor Flight has expanded its mission to focus on Vietnam War veterans, while continuing to honor veterans of all eras. We are committed to ensuring that the heroes of the North Country—those who served during Vietnam and beyond—receive the recognition they have earned.
We need your help to make this mission possible.
We need help finding veterans in our region.
We need volunteers to welcome them home.
And we need supporters who believe that gratitude should never come too late.
Together, we can make sure our veterans hear the words they should have heard long ago:
Welcome home. And thank you.
